Whatever your training goals, be assured that at OFC the training will be complete. What guides our philosophy toward training is what we know to be the FOUR CORNERSTONES to a well trained pilot:

                                                          •
*SOUND FLYING SKILLS*
                                                          •
*PROCEDURAL DISCIPLINE*
                                                          •
*BROAD AERONAUTICAL KNOWLEDGE*
                                                         •
*EFFECTIVE AERONAUTICAL DECISION MAKING*

WE TEACH THESE CORNERSTONES  DURING EVERY FLIGHT, GROUND, AND SIMULATOR TRAINING LESSON!

So what do you seek? Primary training to earn your initial pilot certificate; advanced training to add to your certificates, ratings, experience and skill; or currency and proficiency with a flight review or IPC? Whatever your training objectives you will find the flight and ground instruction offered at OFC is outstanding; with a focus on instilling the fundamentals of flight, adherence to procedures, a wide base of aviation knowledge, and superior aeronautical decision making; the four cornerstones of a safe pilot. In fact we insist on that because our founder and chief instructor has a passion for providing exceptional training that will enhance your flying experiences because you will know that all your techniques, procedures, knowledge and risk management are top notch. Share your training experience if you wish...we allow free ride alongs when appropriate.

INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT    (Rates are ALL INCLUSIVE; NO HIDDEN FEES OR TAX)

Start your flight training through a comprehensive Introductory Flight. The Intro Flight will consist of a comprehensive ground and flight lesson that will be logged and count toward the training required to earn your pilot certificate. It is not a joy ride (although it will be great fun); this is your initial flight training syllabus lesson. If you seek a less formal lesson go to the Discovery Flights page for info on that option. Even if you have had some flight training elsewhere, this is our introduction to each other and your introduction to OFC, our aircraft, syllabus, and your instructor. It kicks off your formal flight training the right way.

ACCELERATED TRAINING    (Rates are ALL INCLUSIVE; NO HIDDEN FEES OR TAX)

Priority scheduling with flexible training dates and timelines set these offerings apart. These ACCELERATED programs are for a fixed time duration and price. If you want to get your rating in the shortest time and for a predictable cost these are designed for you. Actual cost can vary. If any excess funds remain they will be refunded or credited to you for a course or rental so you have no risk of over-payment by paying for time you do not use. If you need added training the price will be at hourly rates as listed above and on the Rental Fleet page. Your first payment will secure your start date. We cannot guarantee you will complete training in the allotted time frame due to variables such as pilot proficiency, weather, maintenance, illness or emergency, etc. Also, the time durations assume above average knowledge and proficiency acquisition skills. We don't require knowledge tests be done in advance but the more prepared (knowledge & skill) the quicker the accelerated training will go. Knowledge test cost is not included in the price but our ground instruction will greatly help you prepare if you do not complete the written in advance. Based on all variables it is obvious that completion times are our best estimate; results will vary and you may complete the program in more or less time than estimated. We can swap some ground for flight or vise versa if you are stronger in one and weaker in the other. Some longer programs can be completed in a shorter time if it is agreed to increase the training days per week and/or hours per day. Any additional training necessary to achieve proficiency is at normal applicable aircraft and instructor rates. Fees for excess hours will be due and payable as incurred during the course of each training program. DPE fee and scheduling of checkride, where applicable to the accelerated program, are not included in the program cost and training time. Aircraft documents and training materials can be found on the Forms / Handouts page. Any other materials and items are not included in the program price. KEEP IN MIND WHEN COMPARING OUR COURSES WITH THOSE AT OTHER SCHOOLS: UNREALISTIC FLIGHT TIME PROGRAMS LEAD TO UNREALISTIC PRICE QUOTES, RESULTING IN ADDITIONAL FEES. THAT'S WHY OUR PROGRAMS HAVE REALISTIC HOUR ESTIMATES FOR FAST LEARNERS. HOWEVER, MOST STUDENTS WILL NEED ADDITIONAL HOURS SO WILL INCUR SOME EXCESS FEES.

SIMULATOR TRAINING

We have expanded our facilities to bring you more training options through the use of flight simulators. These devices, while not a substitute for actual flight, are a valuable learning tool to help ingrain procedures and skills to keep your training on pace. The sim also provides an alternative during those bad weather days or when funds are limited.

(Instructor rates same as above)            (see Rental Fleet page for Simulator rates)

GROUND SCHOOL

At other flight schools ground instruction is not offered at all or is an overlooked aspect of pilot training; not at OFC because we understand that broad aeronautical knowledge is one of the four cornerstones of a safe and proficient pilot. OFC offers flexible ground school arrangements to meet your needs and schedule; from one-on-one sessions, group sessions, and all day or weekend courses. Along with these options some home study should also be part of your training and we will guide you to the written and video based training materials you will need.            (Instructor rates same as above).

*****TIME BUILDING AND SPECIALTY TRAINING FLIGHTS*****

A unique OFC offering to help you broaden your flying. Long range trips can offer training, experience, and time building you can't typically receive during a routine lesson or local flight. So if your purpose is to travel, gain flight hours, training, and experience; here is your opportunity...Take advantage by using these unique training events to build time and experience; some for CHEAP!  And bring someone if we have room because passengers can always ride along free at OFC.

An OFC payback to aviation that we are delighted to offer!*

Best rates anywhere:  In comparing us with other flight schools, ensure you are considering the details. 1. Do they have hidden fees, such as fuel or tax? All OFC rates incorporate all charges so no hidden fees. 2. Do they nickel and time you? No OFC instructor charges for pre and post flight briefings. 3. Do they have inefficient operations? At OFC locations you won't spend money and time for taxi and clearance delays. 4. Do they park airplanes outside? Most OFC aircraft are hangar kept so no waisted time deicing or boarding an uncomfortably cold, hot, or moisture soaked airplane.

A focus on your training:  We are a training organization, not a testing organization. While we will assist where we can, there are too many test scheduling variables involved. Therefore it is the student's responsibility to get any required knowledge test and checkride scheduled.
