If you are in a financial position to self fund your flight training then you are in great shape and may not need loans, grants and scholarships. But if you do need some financial assistance then the information below is designed to help you. Be aware our rates may change between self funded and financed students, depending upon the terms of the flight school agreement with the funding source. THEREFORE, ALL RATES FOUND ON THE TRAINING PAGE AND RENTAL FLEET PAGE APPLY TO FINANCED TRAINING UNLESS INDICATED OTHERWISE BELOW. Some specifics are as follows:

STRATUS FINANCIAL:   Stratus typically funds your training by paying OFC installments in advance. The schedule of loan installment payments made in advance by Stratus Financial are set by them, not by OFC. As such, the installment payment schedule found on the Training page does not apply to Stratus financed students. Also, we cannot discount the accelerated programs for Stratus funding. In order to receive funding installments Stratus requires that we provide to them proof of the student's progress and milestones to authorize continued loan disbursements. This requires that OFC incur administrative duties and expenses in order to receive further funds for student training. As such, we impose a one time processing and administrative expense fee of $100 for this service. This is paid before training begins directly from the student to OFC. It is not part of the loan from Stratus Financial. IN SUMMARY:

1......STUDENT WILL PAY THE $100 PROCESSING & ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSE FEE DIRECTLY TO OFC PRIOR TO THE START OF TRAINING

2......REFER TO THE STRATUS LOAN AGREEMENT FOR INSTALLMENT INTERVALS 

3......THE ZERO TO PROFESSIONAL PILOT (Zero to Hero) RATES FOR STRATUS FUNDING ARE THE STANDARD FEES LISTED ON THE TRAINING PAGE, AS FOLLOWS:

ZERO TO HERO........$98,300     ($24K less than the leading competitive program in the industry and                                                                 you get much more with us - see the Timeline on Training page)

Attention:  If you are seeking Zero to Hero Stratus financing use the above minimum amount when applying for your loan. Remember this rate does not include cost of medical; knowledge test fees; checkride examiner fees; materials, equipment and supplies for training; and extra training fees as necessary if you are not proficient after the program training hours are complete. So plan accordingly to have the funds you need.

​FLIGHT TRAINING FINANCE:   Flight Training Finance typically funds your training by paying OFC upon receipt of a training record. That requires we incur significant administrative duties and expenses in order to submit payment requests for training events after each training event has occurred. This is also contrary to our usual policy of payment at time services are rendered. As such, we impose a one time processing and administrative expense fee of $500 for this service. This is paid before training begins directly from the student to OFC. It is not part of the loan from Flight Training Finance. Flight Training Finance also requires a $250 down payment be paid directly to OFC. This is a FTF requirement, not an OFC requirement. IN SUMMARY:

1.......STUDENT WILL PAY THE $500 PROCESSING & ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSE FEE DIRECTLY TO OFC PRIOR TO THE START OF TRAINING

2......STUDENT WILL PAY THE $250 FTF REQUIRED DOWN PAYMENT DIRECTLY TO OFC PRIOR TO THE START OF TRAINING

3.......ALL TRAINING EVENT INVOICE RECORDS WILL BE PROMPTLY SIGNED BY STUDENT FOR TRANSMITTAL BY OFC TO FLIGHT TRAINING FINANCE FOR PAYMENT

Unlike the loan sources above, credit lenders will provide funds directly to you that you can then use for your flight training. It may be in the form of a cash disbursement or a line of credit on a credit card or something similar. Along those lines but not included below because we do not know what credit cards you have, many cards offer cash advances and often times at a 0% finance rate. This could serve as a convenient and affordable funding vehicle.

 AOPA:   The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association offers credit lines rather than loans for your flight training needs. You receive the funds directly and you pay the flight school rather than the lending partners above who send the funds directly to the school based on your loan amount and your progress. AOPA has an easy loan application process. They just need your complete address, phone number, email; Social Security Number; ID; and proof of income. LACK OF FUNDS FOR FLIGHT TRAINING IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST ROADBLOCKS TO STUDENTS PURSUING THEIR DREAM; OFC WANTS TO KNOCK OVER THAT ROADBLOCK.

         >>>>SELF-FUNDED STUDENT PACKAGE                             CONVERSIONS & REFUNDS<<<<   

INDIVIDUAL RATING PACKAGES:  Students on accelerated packages for individual ratings may deplete one form of hours well before another. For example, all dual instruction hours may be exhausted but several ground instruction hours still remain. In that case it is not feasible to continue with the package format, as in this example there would be no more dual hours remaining to use. Therefore, OFC will convert the package to Funds on Account by calculation of the remaining hours times the standard prevailing rates in effect when Student enrolled. An email accounting will be provided to Student and the converted dollar balance will appear on the Student's FSP account. Thereafter Student will continue to receive emailed electronic FSP receipts for invoices at standard prevailing hourly rates currently in effect as those hours are incurred.

ZERO TO HERO PACKAGE:  Students on the Zero to Hero Program have many packages to complete in the Zero to Hero curriculum. Therefore, if Student exhausts package hours for the current package but is not at the level of proficiency needed to graduate from the package a Finish Up package or packages will be created for the excess hours needed to achieve package completion. These packages will be at standard prevailing rates in effect at the time the required Finish Up package is activated. The next package in the Zero to Hero program will be activated upon completion of the Finish-Up package(s) and payment of the excess fees due. Based primarily on the Student's progress, periodic payment of estimated excess fees in advance may be required. At the completion of the last required Finish Up package an email accounting will be provided to document the excess hours incurred, excess funds paid, and any balance due. 

REFUNDS:  Students who have placed funds on account or enrolled in an Accelerated Program Package have invested in OFC and we have likewise invested in you. But we understand sometimes things don't proceed as planned and you may feel the need to terminate. Before doing so it is in your interests to discuss the issue with us because if it is a barrier to learning or completing the program that we can control we may be able to resolve the issue for you.

But if you must end your training at OFC please be aware Students may terminate training at any time in accordance with the policy below:

OFC has allocated equipment and instructional time and resources to meet its Program obligations to the Student and will suffer financial loss in the event of termination by the Student when OFC remains ready to perform. Therefore, after calculation for reduction of discounts and incentives provided, OFC will refund the unused balance on account or hours remaining in the package at the standard aircraft and instructor rates prevailing at the time of Student's enrollment, less 15% to account for the above described losses of revenue that would have been generated by the Student had training been continued and/or had time slots on the schedule booked by or for the Student been available for other Students to utilize, and to further account for administrative time and expense incurred to process the termination. Any refund due Student shall be processed within 30 days by check or credit card refund. If refund by check Student must provide address to mail payment by regular mail. If refund to credit card the amount refunded will appear on the credit card account associated with the credit card number used by Student to make payment. While the refund will be issued by OFC in 30 days or less we cannot control the time for mail delivery or the time the credit card transaction processing company takes to finalize the refund.
